Legoland Shanghai Resort sets a new world record in visitorsLegoland Shanghai Resort was recently awarded the 32nd Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Theme Park category, while setting a new global record as the fastest Legoland park to reach one million visitors. The Themed Entertainment Association's Thea awards, widely regarded as the themed entertainment industry's Oscars, recognized the Shanghai resort as the sole Chinese recipient in the theme park category this year. The award acknowledges the park's excellence in creative design, immersive storytelling, and interactive visitor experiences. "We are immensely proud that Legoland Shanghai Resort is receiving this honor," said Paul Moreton, chief development officer of Merlin Entertainments. "This award is a worthy recognition of the park's innovative design and immersive experiences." "By blending the creative DNA of the Lego brand with distinctive Chinese cultural elements, we've created a flagship resort that sees the global appeal of Legoland resonate deeply with local audiences," he said. The resort features eight themed lands, including the world's first Lego Monkie Kid land inspired by the Chinese classic Journey to the West. The park also houses more than 75 interactive rides, shows, and attractions, showcasing thousands of Lego models constructed from 85 million Lego bricks. Chen Jie, vice-president of Merlin Entertainments and general manager of Legoland Shanghai Resort, noted that the award affirms the project's innovation and highlights the growth of China's themed entertainment industry. "We've remained committed to delivering creative, playful experiences for every guest. We will further establish Legoland Shanghai Resort as a new cultural landmark for families across the Yangtze River Delta region and beyond." The resort, which opened in July as the 11th Legoland resort and the world's largest at the time of opening, was led by the Merlin Magic Making team in partnership with the Lego Group, supported by external project development and execution from Forrec and Century 3. Since opening, the park has demonstrated strong performance metrics, including high family visitation rates and hotel occupancy. The resort continues to enhance its offerings through seasonal events, including its inaugural golden autumn family carnival and recent winter-themed holiday bricktacular. (Source from China daily) |
