Hunting for Treasure at the 14th CIPF

Source:China IP News

On October 15, the 14th China International Patent Fair (CIPF) concluded in Dalian, Liaoning Province. During the three-day event, we toured nine exhibition zones, embarking on a "treasure hunt" for innovative technologies, creative designs, and distinctive geographical indication (GI) products. From national pioneering equipment to everyday essentials, intellectual property (IP) has quietly integrated into our daily lives. Come and explore these treasures with us!

The "Kunlun" builds bridges like playing with blocks

In the exhibition zone of the 25th WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention, the world's first 1,000-ton level bridge girder erection machine "Kunlun" stood out. Luo Jiulin, Senior Engineer from the China Railway Fifth Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd., explained the innovative achievements of this engineering marvel. "The 'Kunlun' can handle lifting, transportation, and erection of bridge girders with spans ranging from 20 to 40 meters. It provides a systematic solution to bridge construction challenges under special conditions, and even enables beam erection inside tunnels, filling a technological gap both in China and abroad," Luo said. To date, the "Kunlun" has been applied to more than ten high-speed railway lines, becoming a shining symbol of China's pioneering equipment.

Electric vehicles equipped with heating systems

In the face of freezing winter conditions that often weaken power and slow charging in electric vehicles, DEEPAL has pioneered a breakthrough solution. The company's patented invention on a heating system and heating method of an electric vehicle and its power battery fills a gap in rapid battery heating technology and has earned the 25th WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention. "The technology enables self-heating through high-frequency electric drive pulses, allowing the battery to warm safely and rapidly by up to 4.5℃ per minute even at temperatures as low as -30℃," said Du Changhong, General Manager of DEEPAL's Power Platform Center. Currently, this frontier technology has been fully applied across all DEEPAL vehicle models that are sold in more than 70 countries and regions, bringing a better driving experience worldwide.

A robot pianist can play music

At the heart of the first-floor exhibition hall, a humanoid robot pianist performed a beautiful duet with a violinist, filling the air with melodious notes. "Our team, incubated at Zhejiang University Robotics Institute, founded a robotics company in Hangzhou. By entering the entertainment sector, the company has combined humanoid robot technology with musical instrument performance to create the industry-leading 'Hexuan' robot band," said Chen Jinglüe, an engineer at the Zhejiang University Robotics Institute and the Humanoid Robot Industry Innovation Center of Yuhang District. Currently, the team is developing a patent portfolio in areas such as robotic arm planning and control, as well as robot band scenarios. It plans to further promote the practical application of robots in commercial settings.

Low-carbon candles smell divine

How can a scented candle achieve both long-lasting fragrance and low-carbon performance? The answer was found at the Aroma Naturals booth. "Our 'Artist Series' scented candle uses low-carbon, eco-friendly shea wax as its base, allowing a burn time of 70 hours while generating only 7.9% of the carbon emissions of a traditional candle," explained Kong Guanwen, Deputy General Manager of the Marketing Department at Aroma Naturals, Dalian Talent Group. As a global professional fragrance brand, Aroma Naturals has established manufacturing bases in China, Thailand, and Poland, along with global R&D centers and brand marketing hubs. The brand develops products tailored to consumers in different countries, launching more than 2,000 innovative products annually. It now holds 131 valid IP rights, with products sold in over 100 countries and regions.

Jellyfish skincare keeps beauty alive

At the booth of Original Ocean Biology (Dalian) Co., Ltd., a range of jellyfish collagen skincare products including serums and masks caught the visitors' eyes. "As a marine biological resource, jellyfish collagen has unique biological properties, offering broad application prospects in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food. The jellyfish collagen extracted using our patented technology features a unique triple-helix molecular structure, demonstrating advantages in safety, bioactivity, and stability," explained Yang Yan, Head of the company's Application Department. Currently, the company's sales are mainly focused on the Chinese market, while gradually expanding into Japan, the Republic of Korea, Europe, and the United States.

Tasty and eye-catching seafood GIs from Dalian

In the GI exhibition zone, a set of crafted fugu-shaped containers drew crowds of curious visitors. "We combined two national GI products, Dalian trepang and Dalian fugu, with other local seafood delicacies such as sea urchin, abalone, and fish maw to create the 'Amazing Fugu' series of deep-processed products. This is the first of its kind in China," said Wang Jian, Manager of Dalian Jinhua Food Co., Ltd. The fugu-shaped creative packaging has also been granted a design patent, winning popularity among consumers.
