Zhang Mao visited WIPO, Luxembourg and Israel

  •   From May 10 to 19, Zhang Mao, minister of SAIC led a delegation to visit WIPO, Luxembourg and Israel.

      On May 11, Zhang Mao visited the headquarter of WIPO in Geneva of Switzerland, and conducted a meeting with Francis Gurry, the director general of WIPO. Zhang Mao introduced that the business system reform made remarkable achievements. In the 2015 Global Innovation Indicators released by WIPO, the facilitation indicator for opening enterprises in local increased greatly and updated 17 ranks. With the continuing incentives on market vitalities by business reform, the trademark and brand building in China also developed greatly, and the internationalization of trademarks increased constantly. Zhang Mao and Francis Gurry also exchanged opinions on bilateral common concerns.

      Before the meeting, Zhang Mao and Francis Gurry jointly signed the MOU for strengthening further cooperation between WIPO and SAIC. Zhang Mao also accepted the interview by WIPO Press and Xinhua News Agency. Embassy Ma Zhaoxu, for the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United National Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland, also attended the meeting and signing ceremony.

      From May 12 to 17, Zhang Mao visited Luxembourg and Israel. He visited Luxembourg Innovation Center, Israeli Patent Office, Techcode (Israel) China Innovation Center, conducted meetings respectively with Mr. Étienne Schneider, the vice premier, minister of the ministry of economy of Luxembourg, Ms. Ayelet Shaked, the minister of Ministry of Justice, Mr. Asa Kling, Director of the Israel Patent Office, Mr. Amit Lang, the director general of Ministry of Economy and Industry.

      During the meetings, Zhang Mao introduced relevant reforms conducted by SAIC, and expressed his wishes in strengthening communication and cooperation with relevant departments to promote the healthy environment for economy and trade, to form solid cooperation in enterprises’ registration and IP protection. Zhang Mao also signed joint declarations and MOU with relevant departments.

      Zhang Mao also attended in enterprises seminars held in Luxembourg and Israel to introduce China’s reform in business system and market supervision and answered questions there.
