Deputy Director General of World Intellectual Property Organization Congratulated on Remarkable Achievements of China’s Applications of Madrid International Registrations

        Wang Binying, the Deputy Director General of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), recently called Zhang Mao, the Minister of State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), and Liu Junchen, the Vice Minister, and congratulated on the remarkable achievements of China’s applications of Madrid international registrations.

      Wang honorably notified the trademark information to the two ministers in her congratulations that on the basis of WIPO’s latest data, applications of Madrid international registrations from China came to 2273 (8.2% growth compared with 2012), ranked number six in all offices of origin (ranked seven in 2012); and designations to China came to 20275, a 3.7% growth compared with 2012, remained the world record for more than ten consecutive years.

      Wang said the remarkable achievements were inseparable from the two ministers’ strong leaderships and the staff’s uncommitted efforts which WIPO appreciated and congratulated. WIPO would continue to deepen the overall cooperation with SAIC in the field of trademarks and brands, to facilitate Chinese users effectively use Madrid system, and to promote China’s economic development.

      Wang finally in her congratulations expressed the New Year’s greetings and blessings.
